This is my most recent project, finally fulfilling a request from my wife for a birch bark handled knife.
I did not forge this blade, which is Norwegian laminated steel. The next one will have a forged blade, although not laminated. Step by step!
The handle is made by stacking layers (many layers!) of birch bark. I used walnut for the bolster, and for the sheath. Since I was salvaging scrap wood, I didn't make the grain consistent; another thing to do better next time...
